Soooo sore....

But not as sore as I thought I'd be, happily!

Why should I be sore, you ask? Rock & Roll! And no, not a concert (though bands were involved). AZ Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon was this weekend. Part of why Mom came out to visit when she did - a destination race for us, both touristing and running :) And a lot of both we did, too! We each did the half-marathon (there was a full this past weekend, too) but 13.1 miles is still a long way to run!

we made it!

I didn't get a PR (personal best time on an event - not sure exactly what it stands for - personal record?) but considering how little I ran over the summer, I'm still happy with how I did. This was a chance to prove to myself that I wasn't totally out of shape, and give myself some motivation to get back in the swing of things, work-out wise. I was about a minute off my best race pace, but I was still a good ways under my worst time, so I was pleased. My 5K split was actually pretty close to my normal 5K training time (my standard 10-minute metronome mile, as Zach laughs), and I had an 11 minute pace going until about mile 8 or 9. After that I had to mix some walking bouts in, but I was still able to run the whole last mile, so I finished strong at least. The walking bouts were thrown in because my knees and feet were feeling it, not my breathing or muscles as much (not that they weren't feeling it, but they weren't bad enough to slow to a walk). That did make me happy, because I could've had to slow down because my legs were aching too badly, or my breathing was not in shape. Made me feel slightly more in shape than I thought I was :)
